About us

Our company Sangchan Co. Ltd. was founded in Suphanburi, Thailand in 2015 and started with a total area of 3ha. A year later we were able to add another 4ha and have been able to expand to 10ha to this day. We owe this small success story to the consistent pursuit of our corporate philosophy. Sustainable shrimp production without the use of chemical and medical aids. In polyculture we produce white-footed shrimps (Litopaneaus Vannamei), also known as white tigers or white shrimp, together with Rosenberg shrimps (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii), Engl. Giant River Prawns, also known as “Scampi”. In contrast to intensive salt water production, we only have low stocking densities per square meter (~ 25 pieces), thus avoiding stress and promoting the well-being of the animals. They thank us with rapid growth and robust health.

We source the pond water as the main resource from large reservoirs in Kanchanaburi. It is clear and rich in natural minerals (you can find the water analysis here). The water is filtered when the ponds are covered so that any pests do not get into the ponds. During the three-month production phase, only losses due to evaporation and infiltration are compensated. It is therefore a very water-saving production method. Regular water checks ensure that the physical water values such as pH and oxygen are always in the ideal range. We use only natural minerals (quicklime, dolomite, gypsum, sugar) to regulate them. Magnesium, calcium, potassium and other minerals essential for shrimp are regularly checked using the latest analysis equipment / methods and added to the pond water as required. Probiotic bacteria, e.g. Bacillus spp., Streptococcus spp., Lactobacillus spp., Kuenenia stuttgartiensis, ensure biological nutrient degradation, sludge reduction and suppress harmful pathogens. The balanced water values and the use of probiotics prevent ammonium from converting into fish-toxic ammonia. In addition, both are naturally nitrified, and nitrite and nitrate are metabolized and reduced. These values are always at drinking water level. This strict water management enables us to completely avoid harmful chemicals and antibiotics. Outbreaks of disease, neither bacterial nor viral, have so far occurred with us.

We buy the high protein feed we use from certified manufacturers. In our ponds we pay very close attention to feed residues. If there are still food residues in the pond, they will not be fed. This protects water and the environment. Thanks to this method, we produce about 800-900g shrimp (FCR 1.1-1.2) with one kilogram of feed.

In addition to the feed, our shrimp can also use naturally occurring feed sources. Red mosquito larvae, water fleas and bouncers provide valuable proteins here.

Our farm is located inland, surrounded by rice and sugar cane fields. Negative influences on nature, such as cutting down significant mangrove forests, were therefore avoided.

Since we only fill the ponds with fresh water, we prevent salinization of the soil.

We are aware of the responsibility of a food producer. The shrimp we produce is healthy and 100% made without the addition of medication. But we are not only concerned with consumers, our animals and the environment.

Sustainability starts with people

Our employees all live in specially built single-family houses, the standard of which is above normal in Thailand. They are located directly at the ponds, have solar power and energy storage for the night. Electricity and water are available free of charge.

The monthly basic income is above the state minimum income and the wages paid in the surrounding shrimp farms. An additional success commission paid per kilogram of shrimp fished rounds off their income. In addition, everyone is registered and has social and health insurance. Things that are taken for granted in Europe are only given to a few guest workers here in Thailand.
